Plottable Mess - Watercolour Series

2026

"Plottable Mess - Watercolour Series" extends the generative system of Plottable Mess into a more physical and unpredictable process. Each work begins as an output generated by the algorithm and plotted with markers onto rough watercolour paper. The plotted lines are then smudged and transformed using a wet brush and watercolours, allowing ink, pigment and water to interfere with the precision of the original drawing.

The series brings together three ways of making an image: digital generation, mechanical plotting, and hand painting. The algorithm creates the structure, the plotter translates it onto paper, and the hand partially disrupts it again. Precise lines bleed, colours spread and calculated patterns become unpredictable, creating a dialogue between control and accident, machine precision and physical gesture.
